ABOUT TREES & HILLS
The Trees & Hills Comic Group formed in late 2005 with the goal of uniting cartoonists and other comic creators in New Hampshire, Vermont and western Massachusetts. Creators of all ages, ambitions and styles are welcome.
In its first full year of operation, the group has launched a Web site, facilitated monthly drawing parties, appeared at comic conventions and published the 60-page Trees & Hills And Friends anthology minicomic.
With dozens of local comic creators as active members, Trees & Hills represents a wealth of styles and content. Members include established industry professionals, DIY mini-comic enthusiasts and students at the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont.
Trees & Hills co-founders Colin Tedford, a NH cartoonist, and Daniel Barlow, a VT writer, first met at a special 24-Hour Comic Challenge last year at the Brattleboro Museum in Brattleboro, VT. Tedford was then publishing the now-dormant Keene Free Comics and Barlow had recently begun writing comic books.
Tedford and Barlow were impressed by the camaraderie and mutual respect among area comic book creators at the event and formed the group to continue the development of what they saw as a local comic-creating critical mass.
Upcoming Trees & Hills projects include an anthology follow-up, convention appearances, lots more comic release parties, music ventures and a gallery showing. There will also likely be plenty of drawing and writing!
